Position Overview:
As a Veterinary Rehabilitation Assistant (float), you will play a critical role in supporting multiple departments within our facility.
The primary responsibilities include assisting rehabilitation veterinarians with exams, procedures, and radiology, as well as learning, therapeutic modalities (laser) and exercise programs.
This role requires adaptability, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting the team while delivering outstanding patient experiences.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with rehabilitation veterinarians, assistants, therapists, receptionists, and practice manager.
Assist the rehabilitation veterinarian by providing support during examinations.
Collecting patient history Conduct gait analysis videos and perform Stance Analysis (training provided).
Prepare home exercise programs guided by the veterinarian and demonstrate to owners.
Performing venipuncture Providing minimal restraint for exams or acupuncture if needed Scribing during examinations Administering medications Filling medications Provide assistance with therapy appointments:
Learn and apply various treatment modalities, laser therapy and therapeutic exercises (additional training provided).
Provide minimal restraint Support the Radiology Administer and monitor sedation (IV or IM) Position patients correctly for orthopedic radiographs (training provided) Send radiographs to radiologist via DICOM Monitor patient while sedated Must be able to lift 50 pounds Support Procedures Prepare procedure rooms, maintain cleanliness, and verify equipment functionality.
Record and maintain accurate patient information and procedure details.
Administer and monitor sedation (IV or IM) Monitor patient while sedated Must be able to lift 50 pounds Adhere to safety protocols and infection control procedures.
Qualifications:
Previous veterinary experience, including patient care, client communication, and technical skills.
Familiarity with medical terminology and digital record-keeping systems.
Ability to learn and apply canine and feline musculoskeletal anatomy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to work with dogs and cats of all sizes, temperaments, and breeds.
Physical capability to lift and safely handle animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
Willingness to work in an environment that may involve exposure to odors, noises, and animal feces.
Flexibility to adapt to a fast-changing and multitasking environment.
